6. Unplug the battery when the LED becomes steady Green and/or all the LEDs illuminate on the battery

LED array.

FIRST TIME USE - SETTING UP YOUR RED ONE

Before recording, the camera must be set up properly.

1. Physically set-up camera as desired.

2. Download the latest camera firmware from www.RED.com/support and upgrade camera. Refer to

APPENDIX A: UPGRADING CAMERA FIRMWARE.

3. Perform a Black Shading Calibration. Refer to BLACK SHADING under MAINTENANCE in SETUP

under SYSTEM MENU CONTROLS.

4. Verify Back Focus and adjust if necessary. Refer to BACK FOCUS.

5. Connect digital media to camera. Refer to CONNECTING MEDIA.

6. Set up your project (Resolution, Time Base, Quality, etc.) Refer to PROJECT.

7. Format media. Refer to APPENDIX B: MANAGING DIGITAL MEDIA.

8. Develop an exposure methodology using the camera tools (False Color, Histogram, etc.) and testing

to find the "fat RAW negative" for various light conditions. For detailed information refer to this link:

9. Frame, focus and record.
